After a month on the road with the 2022 national champions, Journal-World Sports Editor Matt Tait and new LJW sports reporter Zac Boyer look back at the Jayhawks' run to the title.

From where it began to what stood out, we look back at all of the highs and lows of the last month and the 2021-22 season. What went right? What went wrong? What went WHHAAAAT? And everything in between.

As you surely know by now, it all led to Kansas winning its last 11 games, including three straight in the Big 12 tournament to jump-start the run and six in a row in the NCAA Tournament.

From Fort Worth, Texas, to Chicago, Illinois, to New Orleans, Louisiana and all the way back home, the Jayhawks took their adoring fans on a wild ride and we were there to chronicle all of the important steps and big moments in stories, photos, videos and more.

Photographer extraordinaire Nick Krug joined us to capture some incredible and memorable images and the three of us brought all kinds of content to KUsports.com during the past month. In New Orleans alone, we posted nearly 70 separate pieces of content as the Jayhawks prepared for the ride that led them past Villanova in the Final Four and to a thrilling, comeback win over North Carolina in the national championship game on Monday night.

All of that and more is in this recap — Zac's first ever appearance on The KU Sports Hour — and now that he's out of the gate, we'll have plenty more of these ahead. Enjoy! And thanks so much for following along with all of our coverage and for your feedback and support.

Great talk guys! Zac mentioned an opinion on what the transfer portal may do to the game in terms of parody. I may be off base but I'm seeing the opposite. I think programs in the big conferences will actually become stronger. If the Joseph Y's of the world become stars in the smaller conferences, they will be more likely to test the waters at the big name school, leaving those smaller conference teams a bit like the minor leagues. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on that.

You guys did a great job covering the tourney. The stories were all well written and interesting in my opinion. I watched quite a few different takes on the title game and various highlights of our games during the tourney. Our guys all contributed in significant ways either for entire games or spurts in games that helped the team win the title. It was a great thing to see.
