Hire a Snyder disciple, not Miles.

What Mangino did at KU, 12-1 Orange Bowl, is far more impressive than what Miles did at LSU. LSU is always good at football, with or without Miles. The same is not true about a Mangino-less KU.

What has Miles proven at a non-powerhouse program? How do you think other coaching candidates would fare with the talent Miles had at LSU? That's why Miles should NOT be KU's choice. KU needs to look at the past 20 years and realize they need to hire the best COACH, not big name, or wishful recruiting. The fact is all KU fans know a guy that has proven he can win at KU... and he is available. Why gamble on Miles, Frisk, or Candle when Mangino is available? Offer him a contract. He won't be worse than the past 9 years, and he may be as good as 12-1.

I'd say there are 20 or 30 men that could make KU competitive (defined as other team has to play starters until end of 4th quarter) within the next 3 years: Saban, Meyer, Fisher, Harbaugh, Swinney, Dantonio, Leach, Frost, Riley, Chryst, Malzahn, Snyder, Gundy, Kelly, Patterson, Doeren, Campbell, Frost, Petrino, Smart, Mangino, Pelini, Mark-Stoops, Miles, Candle, Fritz, Kiffin, Monken, Bohl, Brown, Harsin, Satterfield, Anderson. Many people are unwilling to admit that the past 3 KU hires have been poor choices (Gill 20-30 at Buffalo, Weis fired by ND, Beaty almost no HC/OC/DC experience - really just a WR coach). Mangino's teams were competitive in his 2nd season with the track in the stadium, no fancy press-box, fans watching from The Hill, practice field around 1,000 meters from stadium, etc. KU has been losing to MAC teams with far less money and worse facilities. #no_more_excuses

"season averages of 18.7 points per game scored and 43.4 allowed (14.3 scored, 46.4 allowed in Big 12 play)"
Big12 opponents' starters have been pulled early and often. Stats could be even worse.

Keegan, are you going to have a "Power 5" countdown?

Candle was at the top of my list until he lost 34-0 to App St. in the Dollar General Bowl. Satterfield over Candle. But I'd rather see a HC come from a P5 conference instead of the Other-5.

According to Athlon Sports & Life KU is ranked 116 out of 130 FBS teams, and places them last place of all P5 teams. To put that into perspective, there are 50 non-P5 teams that rank higher than KU in this poll. The 9th place team in the Big12 poll, Baylor, is ranked #53 in this FBS poll (63 places higher than KU). Polls are sometimes wrong, but it means the broader college sports world, not just Keegan, has very little faith that Beaty is going to turn things around in his 4th season. If Beaty finally has a complete roster with a good number of JR's and SR's, why aren't expectations higher? Is it because Beaty and his staff have failed to recruit talent that is better than 50 other non-P5 schools? Is it because KU's facilities are worse than 50 other non-P5 schools? Hopefully Athlon is way off... because the poll implies something beyond failure.

Mangino coached for both OU and Snyder. I don't see your logic. Mike Stoops makes $920,000 at OU. Charlie Weis's contract at KU was for $2.5 million per year, and Stoops could probably get that. Some guys like the glory and money that comes with being a HC. I don't know Mike Stoops personally. Sounds like you do.
