as someone who grew up in (very) small-town Kansas, got a professional degree from KU, lived/worked in KC for 5 years, lived in other major cities such as Chicago and Copenhagen, Denmark, AND spent the last 8 years living in Brooklyn, this comment really irks me. Brooklyn is one of my favorite places in the world. perhaps it's time to step outside your own little world for a minute before making a generalized statement like that. I actually lived about a block down Flatbush from the site of the Nets new, amazing stadium before moving to Fort Greene (only about a 20 minute walk from the stadium). I love that area so much, and I was so sad to move out of BK 4 months ago. If I had my druthers, I'd spend the rest of my life there...

that UM-Duke game was absurd. I only caught the last 8-10 minutes, but miami was making Duke look like little girls. It looked a bit like a Harlem Globetrotters game... behind the back passes, alley-oops and dunks every other play.

"Look, if Ringo Starr came up to me and said I was hitting the snare drum a little too hard, I’d probably pull back. Same kind of deal here."

not sure if this is really the best analogy, unless matt is actually trying to say that grunhard was just an above average lineman. don't get me wrong, i love me some beatles, but ringo isn't exactly known as being the best drummer in the world. on-top-of-the-world famous, yes... best drummer, ummmmm no.

how about john bonham, neil peart, keith moon...?

While I agree with lowering the field, it's not quite as cut and dry as you make it out to be. From a layman's eyes it may seem pretty simple, but carting all that excavated material is rarely cheap. And, if any of that material happens to be rock, those costs just went up exponentially.

Plus, you have to account for the costs of putting in a new track somewhere. I know the KU brass has been tossing this idea around for a while (didn't I see plans for an "olympic village" somewhere near Naismith a long while back?). But the logistics of it are pretty complicated.

I think the Big 12 should help things along by bringing in Louisville, therefore collasping the Big East... then the 27 month rule can't be enforced.
