one thing is for sure, this team has no expectations of final four on it that we've become spoiled with. There should be no pressure on this team and that's refreshing.

which dumb butt asked literally the same question he had already answered?

i bet all of those close games were on the road. i think it shows more the home advantage of college basketball, greatest of any sport.

while i can agree with that general concept, i doubt there is any way to distinguish #1 from continually being in the top 5 (or 10 if you prefer) which kansas almost always is. even if that could be separated, i doubt there is much of a difference in the grand scheme of it and all of that would pale in comparison to the prestige of a national title which has almost nothing to do with being ranked #1.

let's be honest, being ranked #1 is meaningless. The only thing we need out of a ranking is to get a 1 seed and be able to dictate close to home games in the first 4 rounds of the tournament.

That being said, This team hasn't ever looked great but has gotten the job done every time including against some really tough competition. Now they are doing it without Doke, which says even more about the meaning of some of those tough wins.

last game's defensive intensity was the highest i've seen from a jayhawk team in a long while. if they can keep that up plus get Doke's defensive presence back, I think they can beat anyone in the country.

Side note: Bilas at one point called Vick the deadliest shooter in the country. Never would have thought i'd hear that a few years ago.

an army without leaders is like a foot without a big toe.

that's not exactly true, being a high profile sports school attracts non athletes for one. it also helps bring in donations, increase overall student experience, etc etc. while the money made (assuming revenue is greater than expenses which appears not to be true for KU) doesn't go to the educational side, there's no argument that it doesn't affect the educational side. I can provide a bunch of links if you like but here's a detailed analysis. https://www.odu.edu/content/dam/odu/c...

time to realize that kansas is a professional amateur basketball institution. it's not the only one and it's not any different from the elite football schools. these sports institutions are essential to the funding of the secondary purpose of the university, actually educating students.

can we drop to DII (or whatever is called now) in football?

chuckberry32 (Anonymous) says...

this has to be done. doesn't matter that we won't make a permanent hire until after the season. the level of embarrassment of ku football knows no bounds.
