That is some shady NCAA crap.

If you don't win games, period, they don't let you into the NCAA Tournament, either. It doesn't work that way. Since those games are Conference Games, it might be a good idea to win them. For those of you that think, "Oh, we have some good wins already, we'll get in on the strength pf those", don't forget, the Selection Committee can take into consideration injuries to major players. Our best victories came when Dok played on the team. Just because a player plays, doesn't mean they are magically going to get it or contribute in a mostly positive way. Maybe they would. I just think, if Self thought McCormack was ready to contribute more positive than negative plays, he would have jumped at it because its a style he prefers and the team started out with in the preseason. He's going this route because he believes it gives the team the best chance to win.

Nice list. Kansas Basketball isn't about players "discovering themselves". Its about winning basketball. Further, a players decision to transfer is a two way street. I think I'll stick with coach on this point.

Umm, the buyout is for LSU to pay, not KU. If I'm reading it correctly, Miles must continue to search for a new head coach position in order to receive the buyout, so the concern is, does he really want the job or is he just trying to meet the terms of the LSU buyout.

Really? Adidas was the ones they were able to tap. One UA school has been implicated and three Nike schools. So, where do you think we are going to go?

CalHawk (Anonymous) says...

What in the world are you guys talking about!? First of all, anyone that proposes going to a conference that would pay the University less has completely lost perspective. You guys want to go from 40 million a year to maybe 5 million a year because you don't want to be embarrassed on the football field any longer? Seriously, is that the kind of financial decisions you make in your own life?

Believe me, we're fielding a B12 team as long as they will *let* us do so. You really believe the basketball program is going to maintain its standing if it isn't part of a Power 5 conference? That is absolutely nuts. You make the right coaching hire and you can turn a program around. Its been proven over an over. KSU, Duke, Utah. We're never going to be a football powerhouse, and we don't have to be. We do have to be respectable, and the road from debacle to respectable isn't insurmountable.

But, you can't do that by throwing away all the money first. Let the Big Boys decide how they're going to evolve college football, we don't get a say in that. But you don't give back guaranteed money so just stop with this foolish different conference and dropping football talk. That makes absolutely no sense.

My best read is this: Vick wanted to go at the end of the season with the teammates he basically came in with. Self thought there might be a good opportunity to get another player for this class. At the time, it was mutually beneficial to both parties. Now, Self has a scholarship opening, good only for this year. Vick has rethought his earlier decision and maybe sees a better path forward than originally contemplated. Self has a need for both experience and outside shooting. Vick knows the KU program. Assuming there are no personal issues that can't be overcome, it makes a lot of sense. I can't be convinced if Vick were a graduate transfer from another school he wouldn't have been the hottest commodity on the market.

CalHawk (Anonymous) says...

Maybe the best way to do that is finish up his degree so he has more options than just basketball?

CalHawk (Anonymous) says...

I thought we were at the limit, but would need to create room if Langdon decides to come?

CalHawk (Anonymous) says...

More accurately, its an extremely thin KU team.
