Kansas visit was "first class" for Hampton and his family

Class of 2020 point guard, R.J. Hampton, and his family wrapped up his 48-hour official visit to Kansas shortly after KU's 78-70 win over Baylor Saturday afternoon. According to Hampton's father, Rod, the visit couldn't have gone better for Hampton and his family.

"There are a few basketball programs that you can say this is what college basketball is all about," said Mr. Hampton. "Kansas fits that, and we have a few of those (programs) on our list," he added.

Mr. Hampton added that the visit went well for him and his family from start to finish.

"From start to finish of the visit everything was first class," said Mr. Hampton. "Getting to see the day-to-day workings was impressive. At the end of the day you gotta respect tradition. We could see ourselves as a Jayhawk family. We will see!!!"

The family atmosphere that Coach Self and his staff have developed at Kansas is something that was very noticeable to Hampton and his family.

"Coach Self and his staff handle the guys in such a way that they hold you accountable," said Mr. Hampton. "The family atmosphere makes you want to work hard to better yourself, and make the team better. They do a great job!!!"

Kansas Assistant Jerrance Howard, along with Coach Self, have a done a great job in Hampton's recruitment. Hampton is considered by many to be the top guard in the country. Should the Hamptons decide to become a Jayhawk family there will be a number of top players wanting to join Hampton in Lawrence.

R. J. to be a jayhawk is something truly special. Hope you got a sense of that.
You are obviously a great player, and can go anywhere, but KU is not anywhere, it is something
special.

Best of Luck with you decision.

As it should be the case for every top player, because the world revolves around Durham, NC (according to the media and the stories they are required to write). Remember when every top recruit was going to UK - until they didn't produce championships as the media proclaimed? It will be interesting to see what happens going forward with Dook in the next couple weeks. They are 500 without 1 of their freshman and may have lost another just as Zion is getting ready to return. It's actually rather comical to read the headlines when considering more than what they are trying to force feed us. (Journo-junk food)

RJ reminds me of Quentin in size and play. RJ may be the better ball handler. Some sites have him as a combo while others have him as a PG

Combo PG is absolutely what Coach loves. As much as he loves a primary ball handler like Devon, he really loves it when he has a 2nd that can give the ball to for a break and relieve some of the pressure. Even if it is just to bring the ball up court before initiating the O.

We really need a PG. Like to see Dotson as a shooting guard next year. KU has done its best with two PGs.

But we have Charlie Moore. Why would we need anyone else?

Think of a team with Hampton, Dotson, Grimes, Agbaji, Garrett, KJ, D Mac, DeSousa and Mathew Hurt. Sic!! Just Sic!! Hope DeSousa likes it so much here he is willing to wait. Because that's a National Championship waiting to happen. Also Charlie. Can never have too many point guards. Also he did rain down 40 in a game his freshman year at California.
