The McDonald's All American Games announced the list of more than 800 male and female high school seniors that have been nominated to play in the 42nd McDonald's All American that will take place on Wednesday, March 27, in Atlanta.

Kansas-bound shooting guard Christian Braun is one of the male players nominated to be one of the 24 boys that make up the two teams participating in the McDonald's All American Game.

Braun, who is coming off of a 30 point 20 rebound game versus Blue Valley North last Friday night, is one of four seniors from Kansas nominated for the game. The other three players are all from Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire. Austin Crowley, Grant Sherfield and Jordan Turner join Braun on the nomination list.

Overall, players from 46 states and the District of Columbia were nominated for the McDonald's All American game. The final roster for the games will be announced Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. on ESPN's The Jump and at 5 p.m. on SportsCenter.

There must be a lot of guys that get nominated for the team because until this article, I had no idea we had 4 McDonald's All-American quality players in the state. We've got Braun, one is signed with Vandy, one's committed to Baylor, and one is undecided (and we have offered).

Sunrise Christian must be a powerhouse this year too...dang.

I think Sunrise is trying to become the Oak Hill of the Midwest, or the other one in LV. I believe it's in Wichita, but the kids aren't necessarily from Wichita or even KS, though some probably are.

Nominated does not mean he's a McDonalds All-American (which goes to who they think are the top 25 or so boys and girls). It just means he made the cut to be considered for the designation. Since he's not ranked in the top 50 nationally, the odds of him making the final team are slim to none.

Congrats on being nominated, of course we all know that he's one of the top 800 players in the nation.

Who makes the nominations? Coaches? Media? Administrators? Just curious.

I read it 800 total, so maybe the top 400 boys?

Yes, I was going to say top 400, but I have no idea what the split is.

You're all wrong. This is the new format. All 800 players nominated will suit up and play equal minutes. The game will be roughly 12 hours long. It is all about exposure.

oh boy... there are so many politically charged comments available here.

I'll just say it this way: next year there will be caravans of HS players descending on the McDs AA game.
