The Kansas soccer team won for the third time in its last four games on Sunday, knocking off Arkansas State, 1-0, on the road behind a goal from sophomore Shira Elinav in the 74th minute.

Kansas is now 3-2-1 on the season.

The Jayhawks dominated possession in the first half, recording 11 shots in all, with five on goal. The defense also held strong, allowing just three shots in the scoreless first half.

KU added 10 more shots in the second half, with the biggest coming from Elinav, who corralled the rebound of a shot from freshman Raena Childers and put it in the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

“The good thing is we created a lot of opportunities, we just couldn’t execute some of those moments,” KU coach Mark Francis said. “Overall, I am just glad to get the win and glad to be back home next week.”

The Jayhawks will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 9, when they face Cincinnati at 7 p.m. at Rock Chalk Park. The game will be televised on Big 12 NOW on ESPN+.
