Kansas tennis earns 4-3 win over Iowa State

Kansas women’s tennis returned home to earn a 4-3 win over Iowa State on Saturday in the Jayhawk Tennis Center.

“Today was the battle we expected it to be. Iowa State is one of the most improved teams in college tennis and have a great start to their season,” head coach Todd Chapman said in a team release. “In the big moments of the match we found a way to succeed. We competed across the lineup much better today, whether we are playing our best tennis or not.”

The Jayhawks (4-3) started off by earning doubles point against the Cyclones (7-2), behind victories from Malkia Ngounoue and Julia Deming on court two as well as Carmen Roxana Manu and Tiffany Lagarde on court three.

Kansas continued its momentum in singles, extending its lead to 2-0 behind a victory from Vasiliki Karvouni to start things off. Ngounoue won her match on court two, while Deming clinched the team win by handling her singles match on court six.

Kansas will travel to TCU on March 12 for its next match.
