Playing its first road game of the young season, the Kansas women’s basketball team also suffered its first loss Thursday night at Ole Miss, 70-53.
Sophomore guard Holly Kersgieter led the Jayhawks (2-1) with 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting, while also contributing nine rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Aniya Thomas added 14 points.
Turnovers piled up for KU, though, and Ole Miss (2-0) scored 26 points off of the Jayhawks’ 25 miscues in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge matchup, played in Oxford, Miss.
Ole Miss outscored KU 21-8 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
The Jayhawks return to Allen Fieldhouse to face Oral Roberts on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Well it only took three games for this team to hit a brick wall. Just like prior season the cupcakes are lined up and beaten but reality sets in when the team goes up against P5 teams.
