KU women's basketball loses road opener at Ole Miss

Playing its first road game of the young season, the Kansas women’s basketball team also suffered its first loss Thursday night at Ole Miss, 70-53.

Sophomore guard Holly Kersgieter led the Jayhawks (2-1) with 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting, while also contributing nine rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Aniya Thomas added 14 points.

Turnovers piled up for KU, though, and Ole Miss (2-0) scored 26 points off of the Jayhawks’ 25 miscues in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge matchup, played in Oxford, Miss.

Ole Miss outscored KU 21-8 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

The Jayhawks return to Allen Fieldhouse to face Oral Roberts on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Well it only took three games for this team to hit a brick wall. Just like prior season the cupcakes are lined up and beaten but reality sets in when the team goes up against P5 teams.
