After striking out a career-high 14 batters during a 7-1 victory Sunday, Kansas sophomore right-hander Ryan Zeferjahn was honored with the Big 12's pitcher of the week honors on Monday.
In six innings pitched against Texas Southern, Zeferjahn allowed four hits, two walks and one unearned run. The Topeka native leads the conference with 29 strikeouts in three starts, featuring a 1.59 earned-run average this season.
"His outing (Sunday) was one of the more dominant performances I have seen in my time at Kansas," KU coach Ritch Price said. "Not only was he throwing mid-90s, but his command with his off-speed pitches were off the charts."
